Most digital pianos rely on sampling technology, where simple recordings are used for the sounds of each note. Roland’s advanced piano modeling technology takes a far more sophisticated approach, using carefully tuned algorithms and powerful processing to fully recreate the deeply interactive tonal qualities of an acoustic grand piano.
Every note flows smoothly into the next, generating endless harmonic overtones and complex resonances that mirror the player’s touch. And with simple onboard tools, it’s possible to instantly change the piano type and shape internal sound elements to fully personalize the sound and touch.
Another major advantage of our piano modeling technology is polyphony. This refers to the number of notes that can sound at one time, which is always restricted in sample-based systems. Most GP models offer unlimited polyphony, putting the unbounded expression of a true acoustic grand under the player’s fingertips.
