VT-4 System Program ( Ver.1.02 )


Important
Be very sure never to disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. The update to the VT-4 is carried out using USB power.
* The VT-4 cannot be updated using battery power.

How to tell the version
Please check the version of the system working on your VT-4 before downloading the archive file.
  1. Set the [ POWER ] switch on the VT-4 to "OFF."
  2. Connect the VT-4 and the computer using a USB cable.
  3. Hold down the [ MEGAPHONE ] button and set the [ POWER ] switch to "ON."
    The [ BYPASS ] button flashes.
  4. Press the [ BYPASS ] button twice.
    If the Scene Memory [ 2 ] button is dark, carry out the update.

    * If the button is illuminated, as described below, the VT-4 is at the latest version. (The [ BYPASS ] button is flashing.)

  5. When you have finished verifying the version, set the [ POWER ] switch to "OFF."
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

Additional Functions
  • Settings for constant pitch and formant conversion have been added.
  • A setting that turns off the robot voice when input of MIDI note messages is interrupted has been added.
  • A mute feature has been added.

What you will need to update your VT-4
  • VT-4
  • USB cable
  • A computer with a USB 2.0 connector ( Windows, Mac )


Caution when performing the update
  • Never power-off your VT-4 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the VT-4 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.


Getting the update file
Please open/extract the downloaded " vt4_sys_v102.zip " file on your computer to get the update files in the "vt4_sys_v102" folder.


Procedure for the update
NOTE
* You must not do the following operations on restoring. Doing so might make your computer freeze, or might result in the loss of all of the VT-4's data.
  • Turn off the VT-4's power.
  • Disconnect the USB cable.
  • Allow your computer to enter suspend (standby) or hibernate mode, restart it, or shut it down.

  1. Set the [ POWER ] switch on the VT-4 to "OFF."
  2. Connect the VT-4 and the computer using a USB cable.
  3. Hold down the [ ROBOT ] button and the Scene Memory [ 2 ] button and set the [ POWER ] switch to "ON."
  4. The "VT-4" drive appears.
    With Windows
    Within My Computer (or Computer), open "VT-4" (or Removable Disk).
    With macOS / OS X
    On the desktop, open the "VT-4" icon.
  5. Copy (drag and drop) the "VT4_UPD.BIN" in the "vt4_sys_v102" folder into the root directory of the "VT-4" drive.
  6. After the copy has been completed, unmount or remove the drive on your computer.
    Leave the USB cable connected.
    With Windows
    Right-click on the "VT-4" icon in My Computer (or the "Removable Disk (*:)" icon) and execute "Eject."
    With macOS / OS X
    Drag the "VT-4" icon to the Trush icon in the Dock.
  7. Press the Scene Memory [ 1 ] button to start the update.
    While the update is in progress, Scene Memory [ 2 ] through [ 4 ] light up in sequence.
    When the update finishes, all button indicators on the VT-4 flash.
  8. Set the [ POWER ] switch on the VT-4 to "OFF."
  9. Refer to "How to tell the version" and verify that the version has been updated.
