V71 System Program (Ver.1.11)


HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
The update procedure differs depending on the version currently in use. Before you start, check the system program version of your V71.
  1. Press the [SETUP] button.
    The SETUP screen appears.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to select "SYSTEM INFO", then press the [ENTER] button.
    The SYSTEM INFO - VERSION screen appears.
  3. Look at the version number ("Program Version").
    * If information other than Program Version is displayed, press the [F1] (VERSION) button.
  4. Press the [KIT] button to return to the DRUM KIT screen.

* If the latest version is shown, no update is necessary.

  • Fixed a bug that the kit backup data (KIT-***.TD0) created on version 1.10 cannot be loaded into a V71 with firmware earlier than version 1.10.

GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Download v71_sys_v111.zip. The downloaded file is an archive in zip format. After downloading it, expand the file. After expanding the file, the folder "v71_sys_v111" holding the file "V71_UPA.BIN" will appear.

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the V71. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your V71 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the V71 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

BACKING UP TO SD CARD
--- Before updating, carry out a data backup. ---
  1. Turn on the V71.
  2. Insert the SD card into the V71's SD card slot.
  3. Press the [BACKUP] button.
    The BACKUP screen appears.
  4. Use the cursor buttons to select "SAVE", then press the [ENTER] button.
    The SD CARD SAVE ALL screen appears.
  5. Move the cursor to "With User Samples" and insert a check mark.
  6. Move the cursor to "Backup Number" and choose a backup number for saving the settings.
  7. Press the [F6] (SAVE) button.
  8. Select "OK" and press the [ENTER] button.
    The settings are saved in the SD card.

HOW TO UPDATE
Creating the Update SD Card
  1. Copy the V71_UPA.BIN file from within the v71_sys_v111 folder to the root directory on the [V71 formatted] SD card.
    * Don't simply copy the "v71_sys_v111" folder itself.
  2. Disconnect the SD card from your computer as follows.
    [Windows]
    Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount the SD card. And then disconnect the SD card from your computer.
    [Mac]
    Drag the Drive icon of the SD card into the trash in the dock. And then remove the SD card from your computer.
 
Update Procedure
  1. Insert the SD card into the V71's SD card slot.
  2. Hold down the [SONG] button and turn on the V71.
    * Keep holding down the [SONG] button until "PROGRAM UPDATER" appears on display.
    The update starts automatically.
  3. "Update finished." appears in the display when the update process is complete.
  4. Turn off the power and then eject the SD card from the V71.
  5. Turn on the V71 and confirm it has been updated to the latest version.

RESTORING THE FACTORY SETTINGS
  1. Press the [SETUP] button.
    The SETUP screen appears.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to select "FACTORY RESET", then press the [ENTER] button.
    FACTORY RESET screen appears.
  3. Move the cursor to "Reset with User Samples" and insert a check mark.
  4. Move the cursor to "Reset with Instrument Expansion Slots" and insert a check mark.
  5. Press the [F6] (EXECUTE) button.
  6. Select "OK" and press the [ENTER] button.
    The "Factory Reset" operation will be executed.

    * If you want to execute Factory Reset including User License, press the [F1] (REMOVE LIC) button after step 2 and execute Factory Reset in the FACTORY RESET WITH USER LICENSE screen.
    * If you execute Factory Reset including User License, the Instrument Expansions installed on the V71 will also be erased. After executing Factory Reset, install the Instrument Expansions again from Roland Cloud Connect or Roland Cloud Manager.
    * For more information about User License, refer to the "V71 Roland Cloud User's Guide".

LOADING BACKUP DATA FROM SD CARD
  1. Turn on the V71.
  2. Insert the SD card into the V71's SD card slot.
  3. Press the [BACKUP] button.
    The BACKUP screen appears.
  4. Use the cursor buttons to select "LOAD", then press the [ENTER] button.
    The SD CARD LOAD ALL screen appears.
  5. Move the cursor to "With User Samples" and insert a check mark.
  6. Move the cursor to "With Instrument Expansion Slots" and insert a check mark.
  7. Move the cursor to "Backup Number" and choose the backup number for importing the settings.
  8. Press the [F6] (LOAD) button.
  9. Select "OK" and press the [ENTER] button.
    The backup data is loaded from the SD card.

    * If the Instrument Expansions have been uninstalled from the Instrument Expansion Rack by executing Factory Reset (including User License), loading the backup data will not restore the Instrument Expansion Rack and Slot data. Install the Instrument Expansions again from Roland Cloud Connect or Roland Cloud Manager.
    * The backup data (BKUP-***.TD0) created on version 1.10 / 1.11 cannot be loaded into a V71 with firmware earlier than version 1.10.
    * In case of kit backup data (KIT-***.TD0) created on version 1.11, it can be loaded into a V71 with firmware earlier than version 1.11.
