What you will need to update your SP-404SX
  • SP-404SX
  • A USB cable included in a SP-404SX
  • A SD Card (We recommend the SD Card came with SP-404SX)
    * The SD card need to be formatted on a SP-404SX and have 2MB or more free space.
  • A computer with a SD Card Reader/Writer.

Caution when performing the update
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the SP-404SX. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • A SD card for the normal usage (e.g. the card came with SP-404SX) can be used for this updating. When you use it, we recommend that you backup data on the SD card to your computer. Refer to the SP-404SX owner's manual P.35 for backup operations.
  • Be sure to power the unit using the AC adaptor. Executing the update while running on only battery power may cause the update to fail and result in incorrect operation if the batteries go dead before the update finishes.
  • Never power-off your SP-404SX while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the SP-404SX won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
