P-6 System Program (Ver.1.02)
HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the version of the system working on your P-6 before downloading the archive file.
- Hold down the [ PATTERN ] button and turn on the power.
- The current version is shown on the display.
- Turn the P-6 power off.

Additional Functions / Functionality Improvements / Specification changes
The following bugs have been fixed.
- When you press the [KYBD] button while holding down a keyboard button, the sound will be held.
- Improves the frequency of updating the status display of Grain displayed on Step Buttons when the [GRANULAR] button is pressed within the VOICE page.
- When the Start Position, Size, Loop Size of the sample pad and the Head Position and Grain Size of the Granular are changed using the [TEMPO/VALUE] knob, the displayed time is changed to the third decimal place or lower for a fixed amount of time.
- When set to Mono/Poly:Mono, Gate:Off, Loop:On, if you press another Note while holding down a Note, it will switch to the new Note and maintain loop playback.
- When pressing the Sample Pad while holding down the Step Button, using the velocity input shortcut operation, the display of "Mid" is changed to "Medi" (Medium).
- Changed the maximum value of [OCT+] to 5.
- When "Stop Behavior:Cut" is set, the change is made to stop all samples when switching patterns during playback before playing the next pattern.
- When [KYBD] button is lit, the Keyboard button that continues to play at "Gate:Off" and "Loop:On" is changed to indicate flashing even when the keyboard button is released.
- If the setting for "MIDI Clock Sync" is set to MIDI or Sync, when the MIDI Clock or Sync Clock is not input and [START/STOP] is pressed, the change is made to indicate [>] (PLAY) button that the clock is waiting for input by flashing.
- Changed the MIDI CC so that it can be received by both Auto Channel and Granular Ch.
- Improves the ability to follow when changing the MIDI Channel settings.
- When executing CLEAR ALL, Notes/Motions of all steps are always deleted.
- Reduced noise at startup.
- Reduced noise when the Headset Microphone is unplugged.
- Reduced delay of playback timing immediately after pattern playback starts.
- Improved tracking when editing Microtiming.
- [KYBD] +[OCT+] selects only Reload / Initialize.
- When changing the Size and Loop Size of the Sample Pad in the VOICE page, the values of each other are not affected.
The following bugs have been fixed.
- In the Resonator of the MFX, the Chord value "Mn0" is changed to "Mn9"
- Other minor bugs
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR P-6
- P-6
- USB cable
* The update is carried out with the unit and the computer connected via USB.
* You can use the USB cable that comes with the P-6. - Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the P-6. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your P-6 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the P-6 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded "p6_sys_v102.zip" file on your computer to get the "p6_sys_v102" folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
- You must not rename the extracted file.
- Never turn off the P-6's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the P-6 itself may be destroyed.
Please install the extracted system program file into your P-6 according to the following procedure.
* At startup for the first time after updating, the display might show nothing for about 10 seconds. Continue waiting until the unit starts normally.
- Connect the computer to the P-6's USB port by a USB cable.
- Hold down the [ SHIFT ] button and turn on the power.
- Open the "P-6" drive icon on the computer.
- Copy (drag and drop) the file "P6_UPD.BIN" included in the "p6_sys_v102" folder into the "P-6" drive icon.
* Do not copy the "p6_sys_v102" folder. - After copying is finished, eject the USB drive on the computer.
[ With Windows computer ]Right-click on the "P-6" icon in My Computer and execute "Eject."[ With Mac computer ]Drag the "P-6" icon to the Trush icon in the Dock. - Press the [ SHIFT ] button to start the update process.
The message "OK." will appear on the display when the update process completes. - Turn the P-6 power off.
