E-X30 System Program (Ver.1.2.1)

HOW TO TELL THE VERSION

Please check the version of the system working on your E-X30 before downloading the archive file.
Check "System Version" and "Style Version."

Checking "System Version"

Hold down the [ STORE ] + [ M2 ] + [ M4 ] buttons and turn on the power to the E-X30.
The system version currently in use appears on the LCD display.
If "Nor V121" is displayed, the system is at the latest version.

Checking "Style Version"
After confirming the System Version, continue by checking the Style Version.

Turn the DATA DIAL clockwise by one click.
The Style Version currently in use appears on the LCD display.
If "SPI V106" is displayed, the system is at the latest version.

When you have finished checking the version, turn off the power to the E-X30.

* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

Additional Functions

A Sustain Pedal function is provided.
When this is set to ON, attenuation like that for piano sound takes place for organ and other sounds while the sustain pedal is depressed.
The MP3 PAD now also supports WAVE data.
Playback is now possible not just for MP3-format audio files, but for WAV-format audio files as well (only sampling rates of 16 kHz are supported).
Support for the WAV format makes possible loop playback with no time gaps (only with WAV-data playback).
"Microphone Effect" has been added.
Pressing and holding the [SHIFT] and [FUNCTION] buttons displays the menu.
"Reverb" and "Delay" can now be set separately.
The following effects are provided in "Microphone Effect."
- 3-Band Equalizer
- Reverb (11 types)
- Chorus (12 types)
The following functions have been added to Delay.
- Pan Delay has been added to Delay Type.
- Setting the delay time is now possible.
- Setting feedback gain is now possible.
"Mic Register" is provided.
When this is set to ON, Register Memory can be switched with microphone settings remaining unchanged.
This makes it possible to switch tones and style data with no drop-out occurring in microphone sound.

Functionality Improvements

Corrections have been made to "Oriental style data" and "Turkey style data."
"Tempo Lock" and "Style Lock" can now each be set to on or off separately.
The equalizer is now applied to all output (internal speaker, Phones, and AUX OUT).

Additional Functions

A Tempo Remain function has been added.
This enables you to turn the setting for tempo synchronization on and off when playing different Styles.
A UserSetup function has been added.
This lets you export and import the unit's settings using a USB flash drive.
"Reverb+Delay" has been added for the microphone.

Functionality Improvements

The names of user styles shown on the LCD display are taken from the file names.
The style data for Brazil Styles has been adjusted.

ITEMS TO PREPARE FOR THE UPDATE

Following items are required to perform the update.

E-X30 itself
PC to write the updater to the USB Flash Memory
USB Flash Memory
* The USB Memory need to be formatted on a E-X30.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND EXPAND THE ARCHIVE FILE

Download the file named "ex30_sys_v121.zip".
The downloaded file is an archive file in zip format. Right-click to select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.
When expansion finishes, a folder named "ex30_sys_v121" appears.
The ex30_sys_v121 folder contains an update file (FW_update.fup).

HOW TO UPDATE

Step 1 Format the USB flash drive
* Use the USB flash drive to apply the update only after first being very sure to format it on the E-X30 itself.
* When you format a USB flash drive, all data on that USB flash drive is erased.

Turn on the power to the E-X30.
Connect the USB flash drive to the USB Device jack (TO DEVICE).
On the E-X30, hold down the [ SHIFT ] button and the [ USB FUNCTION ] button, and turn the DATA DIAL to select "Format."
Going to the NUMERIC buttons and pressing the [ ^ ] button makes the message "Format?" appear.
Pressing the [ ^ ] button a second time formats the USB flash drive.
When the message "FormatOK" appears on the LCD display, formatting is complete.
* Formatting a USB flash drive requires approximately 1 minute.
* If the message "IntrERR" appears on the LCD display, an error has occurred in formatting the USB flash drive. Redo the operation from the beginning.
Turn off the power to the E-X30, then detach the USB flash drive.

Step 2 Update the system program

Copy the update-use file ( FW_update.fup ) inside the ex30_sys_v121 folder on your computer to the root directory of the USB flash drive.
Hold down the [ STORE ] + [ M1 ] + [ M3 ] buttons and turn on the power to the E-X30.
The message "U Disk!" appears on the LCD display.
Connecting the USB flash drive to the USB Device jack (TO DEVICE) makes the update for the system program start automatically.
When the update is complete, the message "ProgOK!" appears on the LCD display.
* If the message "No File!" or "UDISK Er" appears on the LCD display, an error has occurred. Turn off the power to the E-X30 and redo the operation from the beginning.
Turn off the power of the E-X30, then detach the USB flash drive.
Refer to "HOW TO TELL THE VERSION" and verify that the unit has been updated to the latest version.
Turn the DATA DIAL while pressing the [SHIFT] and [FUNCTION] buttons on the E-X30, and select "Reset" to perform a factory reset.

In no event shall Roland Corporation be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this updater. The foregoing provision is effective even if Roland Corporation has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

This is a legal agreement between you (an individual or a corporation) and Roland Corporation (herein referred to as "Roland") regarding the usage of this software product (herein referred to as "SOFTWARE"). Please read carefully the terms of this License Agreement before installing or using the SOFTWARE. By installing, copying, or starting the use of the SOFTWARE, you hereby consent to the terms of this License Agreement.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE

Roland grants you the following non-exclusive rights to use the SOFTWARE in accordance with the terms of this License Agreement.
(a) You may only use the SOFTWARE on a specific single computer at one time. Use of the SOFTWARE shall include loading the SOFTWARE into temporary memory (i.e., RAM) or installing the SOFTWARE into storage media (i.e., hard disk) of the computer on which you will use the SOFTWARE.
(b) You may make one copy of the SOFTWARE for backup purposes only (on floppy disk, magneto optical disk, DAT or the similar media), but you are prohibited to make any other copy.

2. COPYRIGHT

The SOFTWARE and its copyrights are the property of Roland and are protected by all international copyright laws and treaties.
Therefore, you must treat the SOFTWARE like any other copyrighted material (i.e., a book or a CD). All rights that are not provided for herein are reserved by Roland.

3. OTHER RESTRICTIONS

(a) You shall not modify, change, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE and the copyright notice and copyrighted logo.
Unauthorized copying, uploading to another network, distributing, modifying and/or attaching this software to other media or any other sales item is expressly forbidden.
(b) You shall not loan, rent, lease, sublicense or transfer the SOFTWARE, either in whole or in part, to any third party. But you may permanently transfer the SOFTWARE and accompanying printed materials provided you retain no copies of the Software and recipient agrees to the terms of this License Agreement. If the SOFTWARE has been updated or upgraded, any transfer of the SOFTWARE must include the most recent update and all prior versions.
(c) If this SOFTWARE contains multiple templates of media (such as floppy disks and CD-ROM) and these media contain the same software, you may use only the one form of media that is appropriate for your computer. You shall not use the remaining form(s) of media on another computer.
(d) You may not use the Software from multiple locations of a multi-user or networked system at any time.

3.2 Open source software and other third party software
(a) The SOFTWARE may use open source software and other third party software (herein referred to as "OSS, etc.").
(b) The OSS, etc. in the case of the preceding paragraph shall be subject to the OSS, etc. license (herein referred to as "OSS License"), and you shall comply with the OSS License.
(c) If there are any differences between the terms of this License Agreement and the OSS License, the OSS License shall prevail and the terms of this License Agreement shall not apply.

4. NO WARRANTY

Roland makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, with respect to any of the software, including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

5. NO LIABILITY

Roland can not reply to inquiries regarding this system software updater. Please read the instructions completely, and please note that you should use the SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
In no event shall Roland be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this product. The foregoing provision is effective even if Roland has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Even if the SOFTWARE has any material, verifiable, and reproducible program errors, Roland shall have no liability to modify such errors.

6. TERMINATION OF THE LICENSE

Roland reserves the right to terminate this License Agreement if you fail to comply with any of the terms of this License Agreement. Upon such termination, you shall immediately stop using the SOFTWARE.

7. GENERAL

(a) Any provision of this Agreement which is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall be ineffective to the extent of such prohibition or unenforceability without affecting, impairing or invalidating the remaining provisions hereof.
(b) This License Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of State of California without reference to the principles of conflicts of laws.
