The module interface has also been improved for even faster sound selection and drum customization.

New Pre-Loaded Samples

All the internal instruments in the TD-27 can be further enhanced by loading and layering user samples. The TD-27 Version 2 update automatically loads 39 professional quality samples, which are used in the new preset kits. The samples can also be freely assigned to other preset and custom kits to develop new tones and timbres.

Enhanced Control for Sound Layering

Once you’ve had a chance to explore the new pre-loaded samples (or maybe record and import your own), it’s time to dig into sound layering. Layer two internal instruments, a sample with an internal sound, or two samples together. Just assign main and sub layers and get creative with levels and parameters. With TD-27 Version 2, the interaction between the layers can now be adjusted with new crossfade and fade end-point settings for precision dynamic control.

Transient Control Inspired by the Flagship TD-50X

Shaping the attack and sustain of a sound with the TD-27’s transient tools can have a big impact on perfecting and shaping a drum tone. TD-27 Version 2 offers further enhancements directly derived from the flagship TD-50X sound module, including a new attack type parameter for quick sound adjustment and the ability to adjust the transients in user samples.

Parallel Compression

Enhancing drums after recording is a standard studio practice, and compression is key to creating fat, high-impact sounds. The TD-27 module has always had powerful compression tools for individual sounds and the overall kit. Now, the master compressor section has a new parallel compressor option, another feature derived from the TD-50X. This “secret weapon” used by top audio engineers allows you to blend the direct drum sound with a heavily compressed version, providing maximum punch while retaining the natural dynamics of your performance.

Workflow Improvements

With TD-27 Version 2, the module’s intuitive user Interface has been enhanced in subtle but significant ways. The sub-instrument name is now displayed on the main instrument screen, eliminating the need to dive into a sub-menu to view its settings. In addition, you can save/load single kits via an SD card, copy kits to different memory locations, and copy sounds and settings to different pads within a kit.

Support for the Latest Roland Pads

TD-27 Version 2 also includes trigger parameter settings for the latest V-Pads and V-Cymbals, including the thin-profile CY-12C-T crash and CY-14R-T ride.
