Starting at an early age of 3 years, Bihu’s guru his father Kharaj Mukherjee talked with him in Taal (rhythm).
He started learning from Maestro Monojit Datta following 13 years of his tutelage, a deep understanding and meticulous training on Latin percussions and drums. He is also the disciple of the master percussionist Miguel Valdez.
He started playing with Monojit in bands like “The Orient Express", Clave Mantra, “Monojit and Friends’.’ Played at Festivals like The Calcutta Drumming Festival, Giants Of Jazz Festival, Saaz aur Awaz percussion festival, The Jamshedpur Carnival, The Dumru festival in Pune, Sangeet Mela and Margsangeet, “Yadein”: Girijia Devi Birth Centenary. Featured at Sufusion with Maestro Bikram Ghosh followed by performing in RAJ BHAVAN for the Governor MK Narayan. Bihu’s recent collaboration features him with the band Sabor do Brasil, Paddy's Trio, Los Gatos and 4 on a Swing . Sabor do Brasil did it’s pan India monsoon tour on 2019. Inaugurating venues like The Piano Man Jazz Club Gurgaon, The Brass Room by ITC, and playing at PVR Home Delhi, Collab Studio Chandigarh, Pune Shisha Jazz Cafe, BFlat Bangalore, Top CAT CCU, SKINNY MO’S JAZZ CLUB Kolkata. Jwaharlal Neheru University Delhi, Indian International Centre Delhi. Played with Kolkata Knight Riders, performances with great artists like Pradyumna Singh Manot, Usha Utthup, Elena Friedrich (Rome), Fidel Murillo (Panama), The Manfred Quartet (Austria). Parvati Baul, Arun Kumar, Premjit Datta, Satyajit Mukherjee, Rathijit Bhattacharjee, Rickraj Nath, Bumpy Mainak Nag Choudhury, Adil Rashid, Suvam Moitra, Rhythm Bansal, to name a few. He performs with his own local band "Moksha Kolkata”, the band had been featured in the film “Uraan” with the song “Mon Pakhi”. His interview as a special guest had been broadcasted by THE ALL INDIA RADIO, for many times.
Bihu is also a GOLD MEDALIST from RABINDRA BHARATI UNIVERSITY, in theatres. He is also a film actor and been awarded the BEST DEBUTANT ACTOR, from ETV.
