In India, a land as diverse as it's people and it's new-found western culture, there are guitarists and there are guitar gods. "Then there is Sumith Ramachandran who is a monster guitarist. I would feel nervous playing when he is there in the audience." Ehsaan Noorani (of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy fame).

Often labeled as one of the most jaw-dropping guitar players India, Sumith Ramachandran has been performing professionally since the of age of 9! When his friends were discovering the joys of reading and writing, Sumith was unknowingly honing his perfect pitch skills. Little wonder he has a performance average of 230+ gigs a year!

Sumith has performed at the Java Jazz Festival, Jakarta, March 2009.

He performed with renowned South Indian playback singers such as K J Yesudas, P Susheela and T M Sounder Rajan. Also a member of various orchestras in Tamil Nadu and Kerala between 1980-1993.

He has Toured India, Australia and the Middle East with Shiva, a Kolkata-based rock band.He is an integral part of singer Usha Uthup's line-up, playing guitar and keyboards) for her in live concerts as well as studio recordings.

Sumith Ramachandran is clearly among the most skilled and talented guitar players in India who can straddle varied styles such as jazz-rock, classic rock, country, blues and Carnatic genres with equal ease. It is this versatility that is his U.S.P.

In India, Sumith has been associated with Indian jazz pioneers Carlton Kitto and Anto Menezes. He's also associated with singer Gary Lawyer and The Saturday Night Blues Band.Internationally, he has played with guitarist Vinny Valentino. Sumith also performs bi-weekly with classic rock band Hip Pocket at Someplace Else, the mecca for live music in Kolkata. He owns a band "Plan B" (just a few years young) performs originals and covers at Someplace Else, Kolkata, every Saturday. Sumith has opened for guitar player Wayne Krantz's Kolkata concert in 2010

Sumith has Composed the music score in collaboration with 24 Grams in director Rituparno Ghosh's award–winning Bengali film, Dosar. He has also Contributed the music score to numerous short films. Recorded with tabla-player Tanmoy Bose and Played on and composed jingles for an assortment of clients. Sumith has accompanied Indian classical Musicians such Bikram Ghosh (Tabla) and Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Mohan Veena)
